There are many misconceptions about what the City Government does and does not have authority over. Here is a list of what it can do:
- Write and propose acts to the Council
- Amend currently existing acts with the Council’s approval
- Oversee the allocation of Entertainment, Liquor and Gambling licences
- Create departments and initiatives with Council approval
- Oversee the Department of Justice
- Provide Public Defenders for when citizens require “free” legal representationHere is a list of what it cannot do (currently):
- Change the level of taxation [ except the Governor after consulting everyone]
- Access City funds without prior approval from the State
- Give out money or loans on a whim
- Deal with complaints or allegations of corruption with agencies
- Authorise the legalisation of drugs or other illicit substances without State approval
- Bypass the law / have criminal recordsThis will be updated upon timeGovernment officials work at Los Santos City Hall, which is located on the northern side of Pershing Square. You will often find us going about our daily business inside the Hall or around the front steps, so please feel free to drop by and say hello (but know that we are often extremely busy and chit-chat is a luxury!).
